Friday, February 26th, 2010

dsc_1316 Blake enjoyed great results from all the hard work and sacrifice he made during the 2009 motocross season. After racing in 21 CAMSeries events (that’s every race of the series) and attending 2 different MX Camps, Blake enjoyed winning several trophies and plaques! Nearly every time Blake sat on his bike and raced in any of the 3 classes he competed in (65cc 7-9, Open 4-Stroke, and Small 4-Stroke) he won a podium spot. (more…)

BLAKE DEFENDS STRONG CAMS SEASON STANDINGS

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Blake has worked hard this 2009 MX season to make every race so far in the CAM (Central Alabama Motocross) Series. He’s traveled throughout the state to compete in 15 races and looks forward to finishing the season strong. His commitment to make the races and to ride hard while there has earned him some great spots in the season points.

CLASS  SEASON POINTS POSITION
65cc 7-9 3rd Place (This class has over 30+ racers competing throughout
the season)
Open 4-Stroke 2nd Place
Small 4-Stroke 2nd Place

In the 65cc 7-9 class Blake is currently in 3rd place behind a couple really good riders and in front of some equally talented ones. He’s in a tough points chase with his close friends Cody Pharr and Alex Collins, who always ride hard and provide for exciting races. They are always trading positions and its hard to know who’ll finish in front when they race. Yet, off the track they’re good friends and love to shoot guns, ride bikes, and play outside. Blake, Alex, and Cody are new to the 65cc class and have really held their own this season. They’re quickly becoming the dominating riders in this class and promise to provide some great racing in 2010.

In the Open 4-Stroke class Blake is currently 2nd in points behind his friend Cody Pharr. They both added this class after the first few races and quickly dominated with top podium finishes. As they do in the 65cc class, Blake and Cody push each other hard and make for some great races. The final results may come down to the last race of the season.

Blake began racing in the Small 4-Stroke class later in the season and thus missed about 5 races. Even with this handicap, Blake quickly began racking up 1st place finishes to hold the current 2nd place spot in this class.  He’s chasing down the 1st place points holder, his friend Grant Mitchell, in every race.

Racing three classes makes for a lot of racing and a long race day for Blake, but he loves all the seat time and has really developed well as a rider. Blake has 6 more races remaining and is looking forward to finishing strong. He loves the tracks that are part of the CAM Series. BLAKE WINS 2 HOLESHOTS, 2ND PLACE AND MORE @ CROSSBONE MX…

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Blake jumping finish line @ Crossbone MXThe Crossbone MX track looked great with only a few deep, loose spots. Blake arrived Friday evening after dark due to a late tackle football practice, so no riding was done on Friday.

Saturday morning broke and the riders from the Alabama State Series and the CAM Series were ready to go. After a Faith Racers church service and rider’s meeting Blake jumped on his KX 65 and raced in the 65cc 7-9 class. He got a great start in the first moto, but went down a couple times in deep, loose sand where many of the riders struggled to stay up. In the 2nd moto, Blake rode much better, adjusting for some of the loose soil and finished an overall 7th place.

Throwin' up dirt! The next class Blake raced was the Small 4-Stroke class. Blake won the holeshot and jumped out front early but was passed by a rider from the Alabama State Series on a modified bike and later in the moto went down forcing a 3rd place finish in the first moto. The 2nd moto started and Blake won the holeshot and never looked back. He finished 1st in the 2nd moto and won 2nd place overall. He made some great adjustments in the 2nd moto and rode really well.

The last class Blake raced in was the Open 4-Stroke class first. He got a great start and fought hard against several bikes, two of bigger engine sizes, to finish 3rd. In the 2nd moto, mechanical problems with Blake’s bike kept him off the gate, but he was able to start the race late and was catching the front runners when his bike quit and couldn’t be restarted. He finished 7th overall due to the bike problems.

BLAKE RIDES HARD & WRECKS BIG AT NOAH’S MX PARK

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Blake arrived Saturday afternoon after a flag football game and couldn’t wait to hit the track. He squeezed some great riding in just a few minutes of open track time by hitting a big double with style. The weather looked to be great for the weekend.

Sunday rolled around and Noah and his workers had the track looking great and after a Faith Racers church service and rider’s meeting, the bikes were on the track and kicking up dirt! Blake raced in the 65cc 7-9 class first and faced a lot of fast riders. He got a great start jumping out quick and fought for position among the other riders to finish 6th in the first moto.

Blake raced in the Open 4-Stroke class next and got a slow start but fought hard to chase down the 2nd place rider when he made a good pass and caught some hard to see breaking bumps and wrecked his bike at full speed. The wreck launched him over the bars and the bike flipped a few times and landed on top of his back. After the paramedics checked him out, he rode back to our camper and we found several bruises, cuts, and sore muscles.

Blake tried to finish his day of racing but couldn’t lift his arms due to the wreck, so his overall finishes were penalized. He was real tough and bounced back quick by practicing tackle football the following night!
