Blake faced some stiff competition at Noah’s Motopark on May 2nd while competing in three different classes: 65cc 7-9, 65 Unlimited, and Preteen. Noah’s Motopark hosted a combined CAMSeries race and NMA Ponca City Qualifier, so riders came from all over the southeast to compete. Blake welcomed the new competition and never backed down.
Blake began the weekend with a day of practice on Saturday. Though rain threatened all weekend, it never came and Blake took advantage of the overcast sky and cooler weather by throwing down some hot laps! Every session he focused on a different part of mx racing: cornering, body position, breaking, speed, and jumping. By the end of the day, Blake was riding faster than ever before.
Sunday rolled around and the first moto Blake raced was the 65cc 7-9 class. He got a great start and was 3rd to the first turn out of 9 other racers. He rode hard and finished 4th against some really fast riders. In the second 65cc 7-9 moto Blake and a couple of his friends, Cody Pharr and Alex Collins, were caught up in a nasty looking pile up right before the first turn after the start. Luckily, all the boys either rode away or walked away with minor bruises. The video shows the real magnitude of the wreck. Blake is the rider that gets hit by Cody’s bike, get’s up first and is almost hit by another rider. You’ll see him get up on the left of the screen. He begins to ride away and falls down again because his front brake was locked and prevented the front wheel from turning. It was a scary wreck, but Blake got back on his bike and managed to finish 5th in that moto. He took home the 3rd place trophy and was proud to hold his own against some of the fastest riders in the southeast!
The next class was the 65cc Unlimited class, which allows any 65 rider regardless of age on any type of 65cc bike, stock or modified, to race. This is a tough class and Blake rode well and finished 5th in the 1st moto and 5th in the second moto. Blake took home the 5th place trophy against many 10 and 11 year old riders with much more experience.
Blake raced in the Preteen class against 7 other racers and all but one were riding much faster 85cc bikes. Blake held his own and finished 4th overall after riding hard in both motos. He hopes to begin riding his new RM 85 in that class real soon and giving the rest of the racers a run for their money!
Blake looks forward to racing at CAMP MX on May 9th! Come down and hang out with him and Ander Racing!
